US multinational bank J.P. Morgan has appointed Alex To as the vice-chair of its Asia-Pacific franchise, reporting to Sjoerd Leenart, CEO, Asia-Pacific, according to a memo seen by The Asset and confirmed by a company spokesperson.
Alex, who will be based in Hong Kong, brings over three decades of experience in banking and alternative asset management and has, the bank notes, “an outstanding track record of leading landmark transactions across multiple product categories and markets and building leading teams”.
He joins the bank from CDH Investments, where he was its chief executive officer. Prior to this, he was the co-head of Asia-Pacific investment banking at Bank of America, having initially joined as co-head of global corporate and investment banking for China. Before Bank of America, To also had a successful tenure at Morgan Stanley, where he held various leadership positions, including chairman of China investment banking.
